VIVAnews - The Capital Market and Financial Institutions Supervisory Agency (Bapepam-LK) has issued three new regulations on investment managers. The new rules aimed at increasing the quality and the professionalism of investment managers.
The rules are also expected to boost the objectivity and the quality of property assessment results. The regulations were issued on December 31, 2009.
The agency’s press release published on Monday, January 4, 2010 says the three new rules are V.A.3 regulations on The Permit of Stock Companies Running Business as Investment Managers.
They are also V.D.11 regulations on Investment Manager Function Implementation Guidelines and VIII.C.4 regulations on Property Assessment and Assessment Reporting Guidelines in Capital Market which is the attachment of Bapepam-LK Presidential Decree No: Kep-478/BL/2009 on December 31, 2009.
Among the things governed by V.A.3 regulations are the obligation of investment managers of owning and applying management risk strategies and obedience as well as having working units or officers who reinforce certain functions of investment managers.
The new regulations also oversee the management of stock portfolio for the interest of certain customers based on bilateral and individual agreements. In addition, the regulations also govern collective investment portfolio management for customer interests through the medium or products regulated by the Bapepam policies.
The regulations are the reactions towards the existence of investment and fund management services that do not really follow the principles of investment and fund management.
Meanwhile, VIII.C.4 regulations administer the requirement of using market value in every property assessment activity in the capital market. Property evaluators must also comply to the ethical codes and standards set by the association.
