VIVAnews - The global IP traffic is estimated to increase by 300 percent by 2014 compared to 2009. It is figured that the IP traffic in 2014 would hit 63.9 exabyte per month.

The data was revealed by Cisco through Cisco Visual Networking Index (VNI) Forecast in 2009-2014. According to the research, the global IP traffic per month in 2014 would be at 64 exabyte, equal to 16 billion of DVD files, 21 trillion MP3 files, or 399 quadrillion SMSes.

By the same year, the highest area that would record the highest IP traffic includes North America (19 exabyte), Asia-Pacific (1.4 exabyte), and Western Europe (16.2 exabyte).

"Internet and telecommunication providers will be dealing with the ever changing customer needs and bandwidth improvement," said Pankaj Patel, Cisci Group senior vice president and general manager service provider, today, June 9.

By 2014, all video formats including TV, video on-demand, internet video, and peer-to-peer, will continue grow by more than 91 percent.

According to the report, the global online video community will reach one billion users by the end of 2010. Globally, the traffic of advanced video including 3D TV and HDTV is figured to advance by 13 times by 2014.
