VIVAnews - Despite protests from various parties, Bank Indonesia (BI) will still proceed with the plan to redenominate the national currency.
BI governor Darmin Nasution stressed the study on the redenomination concept has been final. The central bank is for the time being looking at the chance to socialize about the issue as well as mulling over a strategy to revise banking system concerning the plan.
"In general, the plan is final. Now, it depends on how the issue is informed to the public," he said.
According to Darmin, the study on the socialization of the issue will be completed by at least the end of the year. It awaits approval from the government and the House of Representatives.
As regards socialization, the central bank will be relying on Bank Indonesia offices in the provinces.
