Skidded Aircraft Not Yet Pulled Out of Field

VIVAnews - A Garuda Indonesia GA 1174 aircraft skidded off the runway at the Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport in Pekanbaru, on Tuesday.  However, the aircraft has not yet pulled out the aircraft of the field.  

“Last night, Garuda technicians were still attempting evacuation until 2am. However, they gave up the effort for not enough equipment was used,” Anggono told VIVAnews.

The aircraft was in the similar position as Lion Air's some months ago. The evacuation process at that time was carried out by using special equipment transported from Jakarta.

Angkasa Pura, he said, since 9pm last night had offered similar equipment to evacuate the aircraft. 

“However, they (Garuda technicians) attempted to use the existing equipment in the first place.  Exactly at 2am, they stopped the process,” he said.

Following the failure, Garuda agreed to use the equipment offered by Angkasa Pura.  

“It will be distributed to Pekanbaru using a Garuda aircraft,” said Anggono. 

The aircraft carrying 162 passengers skidded on Tuesday afternoon during heavy downpour.
