Elnusa Targeting US$160 M Contract

VIVAnews- PT Elnusa Tbk (ELSA) is aiming for a new contract with a total of US$ 160.3 million until the end of 2009. In the first quarter of 2009, the company has gained a total contract of US$ 218.3 million.

Elnusa Director of Operation, Eddy Sjahbuddin, said that the geoscience service is expected to contribute a US$ 66-million contract. Meanwhile, the drilling service is also expected to contribute US$ 50 million, as well as the oilfield services with US$ 44 million.

Some of the contracts are almost dealt and the rest are still in a bidding process.

"There will be a lot of new contracts in the second quarter", Sjahbuddin said in the company's press conference at Dharmawangsa Hotel in Jakarta, Wednesday, May 6.

He also said that until the end of March 2009, the company has gained a total contract of US$ 218.3 million. Out of the total amount, US$ 87.5 million contract was gained in the first quarter of 2009 and the rest are carried over from 2008.

"Not all contracts will be materialized in 2009. Some of them will be worked on by 2010", he said.

Sjahbuddin said that this year the company will allocate the US$ 5.1-million capital expenditure (Capex). The capital will be raised from the syndication loan helmed by PT Bank Central Asia Tbk.

The capex will be used to purchase new equipments and overhaul some of the operational devices.

He also said that this year's capex is quite small because the needs in 2009 have been fulfilled by the fund invested in 2008, which is about US$ 80 millions.

"The 2008 investment was set out to meet the needs in 2009. So, this year we only need to maintain the equipments", he said.
